This 22-year-old builds chips in his parents' garage

Could this be the beginning of a new era for chip production? Sam Zeloof "thought it would be funny" to make computer chips in his garage. Many hours and a home-built photolithography machine later, he's working on his third generation of chips. Although not quite at the scale as top chip manufacturers, Tim Simonite reflects on why his creations show what's possible for small-scale silicon tinkerers.
