Many respected philosophers did manual work themselves. The gap between jobs that are seen as ‘intellectual’ and ones that are deemed manual is nonsensical. For a society to function in a more efficient way, we need both types of professions. In this argument for an increased understanding in a world of diverse professions, Lee Clarke argues that philosophy contains a physical element that is overlooked and can be applied to manual forms of labour too and contain profound amounts of knowledge and wisdom.
